Reminder: Tracer Bullets a Violation on National Forest System Lands

 

The third tracer-bullet caused fire this spring burned on the Pawnee National Grassland Saturday, burning just over 10 acres.

Information Sought on Pawnee National Grassland Fire

The Forest Service is seeking information on the Wildhorse Fire that burned 109 acres on both private and National Forest System lands on the Pawnee National Grassland March 3, 2012.

Pawnee National Grassland prescribed burn planned

The U.S. Forest Service is planning to burn approximately 600 acres on the Pawnee National Grassland starting as soon as the week of March 12, but may be later in March, and could continue until all 600 acres are burned. Smoke may be visible from Highway 14 and nearby communities.

Udall presses Energy Secretary on urgency of extending tax credits for wind and other renewables

On Thursday, during a hearing about the president's proposed budget in the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, Mark Udall questioned Energy Secretary Steven Chu about the importance of extending the expiring tax credits for wind energy production and other renewable energy sources.  Thousands of Coloradans work in the wind energy industry, but the industry could be seriously affected if the tax credits expire at the end of the year as scheduled.
