Women charged with prostitution and child abuse

On April 22nd, 2012, officers of the Greeley Police Department received information indicating two women were advertising and conducting prostitution in their home.  It was also alleged the two year old child of one of the women was living in the home. 

 

Man sentenced to 16 years in federal prison for drug trafficking

 Miguel Angel Velasquez, aka “Outlaw”, age 28, of Greeley, Colorado, was sentenced this week by U.S. Circuit Court Judge David M. Ebel to serve 192 months (16 years) in federal prison for conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute controlled substances, including 50 grams or more of actual methamphetamine, 500 grams or more of a substance containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine, and 50 kilograms or less of marijuana.  Following his 16 year prison sentence, Velasquez was ordered to serve 5 years on supervised release.

Victim recovering after shooting, police need help finding suspect

On Saturday, April 13, at approximately 11:30 p.m., the Weld County Communication Center received a call of shots fired in the 1400 block of 10th St.  Officers arrived and found a victim inside a residence with 3 gunshot wounds to the leg.

A bill sponsored by Representative Claire Levy, that would make secure juvenile detention facilities the default placement for juveniles who are prosecuted in adult court passed the House Judiciary Committee today by a unanimous vote.
